NYFW S/S 2017

New York Fashion Week S/S 2017
All The Looks We Picked

The winds of change in the fashion industry are blowing stronger every season, but there was a cyclone last week and New York Fashion Week was at the eye of the storm.

Spring 2017 is looking bright thanks to diverse, inclusive runways and big marquee designers like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger adopting the "see now, buy now" retail trend.

What's more, there is now almost a sense of fun and joking about fancy clothes. A look at varied names on the American calendar suggests that the reverence to the awards ceremonies that has grown steadily since the new millennium may now be on the wane.

Keep up-to-date with our LFW post on blingtalks!

Our picks:

Marchesa NYFW S/S 2015The feather light tulle, the sunrise/sunset theme bringing pale, washed colours, showed designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig following their traditional route of grand gowns. The colours were almost iridescent, the nude and blush shades blending with the body.

Perhaps it was that sense of nature - the wispy tones of the sky and a deliberate focus on lightness - that made essentially grand dresses seem gentler and more modern.

Marc Jacobs

Kendall Jenner has been making headlines at New York Fashion Week, both on and off the runway. This look she modeled for Alexander Wang proves that fashion is also about how you carry an outfit. So wear these trends with attitude!

| Wear our Moon Rainbow collection with glam-rock pieces and the same attitude!

Christian Siriano

Siriano proved to hold even more surprises as he debuted his richly diverse Spring Summer 2017 collection. The young designer confronted the political issues of the runway head on casting a diverse roster of models of different ethnicities and size.

| This look is even more proof that he really understands how to dress a woman. It’s such a dramatic dress, but we’d totally wear this on a normal day and extravagant earrings, like the Sparkly Crescent.

Phillip Lim

New-York-Fashion-Week-SS-2017-Phillip_LimPhillip Lim is a designer who can create a poetic universe by strewing dying flowers on a dusty floor.. The most striking fact about the show was its evident effort to make clothes for real women - whether shorts, dresses, cut away jump suits or classic floral silk wrap dresses.

| blingsense flirts with Plillip Lim’s approach of offering a something-for-everyone by a variety of collections, and a thread of modernity.

NYFW S/S 2017

I don’t know about you, but we’d definitely rock a pineapple print dress! I think this is such a fun and very wearable look from Altuzarra that I’d wear to a beach wedding, or even out in the streets with a cute denim jacket.

| And those lime earrings! Such a statement piece!

Mark Jacobs

In a move familiar to many in the front row, the designer once again closed the schedule with a show that visually and creatively killed what came before it. There were dresses with Marie Antoinette worthy frills, camo jackets with ruffles around the bottom, short sequin skirts in rainbow colours and sweet buttoned up blouses with marabou feathers. Supermodels including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Jourdan Dunn were in this show – but they were unrecognisable here, transformed, partly through a raised catwalk and huge shoes, into giant alien-like figments of Jacobs’ vivid imagination.

| The overall impression was frankly mad compared with the sensible uptown elegance.. Are you up for it? The Silver Lava collection is edgy enough to help you take this step but classy enough to keep the right balance!

The Blonds

The Blondes_NYFW_S/S_2017

Overall, the collection was inspired by a wide range of influences from Lana Del Rey and heavy metal music to the film "Clash of the Titans." Some key items included liquid bombers, sleeveless muscle sweaters, gowns, corsets and bodysuits. The color palette consisted mainly of silver, platinum gold and nude. Laser-cut detailing, crystal embroidery, sunburst pleats and sequins helped make this another avant garde and unforgettable collection by The Blonds.

| We love the way they styled the models for the catwalk and the big, chunky jewelry they paired the outfits with. If you like that trend, you should definitely have a look at our rings showcase..

Alice Yim

Yim, a Shanghai-born designer, showcased her feminine but edgy women’s collection.

Staying true to her vision, she showcased a style flavored for the young, modern working woman. Among her pieces were also some very stylish men’s outfits in a similar taste, screaming young, masculine, and minimalistic. Her style is very feminine, boasting easy silhouettes, made with lux fabrics that easily transition from day to evening. Her girly signature is generally classic, modern, and carried out in minimalistic shapes.

| We love the way she paired them with dangle earrings like our elegantly crafted Venus Kiss.

We couldn’t agree more with her quote on Fashion Times!
“I like to dress a young, working professional who is less concerned about quantity and more concerned about quality and the longevity of a garment. She never requires to be the center of attention, but gracefully makes her presence known.”
